Our volunteers are the backbone of our organization.
|
 |
They tutor, facilitate, answer phones, perform office
and reception duties, type, bake, and sit as members of the Board of
Directors. |
 |
Some volunteers enjoy organizing major fundraising events
while others prefer to work behind the scenes. |
 |
We value and welcome them all. |
 |
If you have the time to contribute, we will ensure that you
have a meaningful volunteer experience in your chosen capacity.

Volunteer Positions Available
Tutor
Our mandate is to provide literacy and numeracy skills
training to adults who require support to develop skills to find or keep a job,
or to participate independently as contributing members of our society. To do
this, we need tutors. Training is provided and a network is in place along with
a mentorship program to provide support in this very important role. Prior
teaching experience is not necessary.
Director
The Board of Directors makes decisions pertaining to the
running of our council and works closely with the Program Coordinator. The Board
is made up of at least 9 voting directors and the Chairperson. Executive
positions include President/Chairperson, Vice-President, Treasurer and
Secretary.
Fundraising
Ours is a non profit organization which receives partial
funding from the Ministry of Training, Colleges, and Universities. To fulfill
our mandate, we also need to raise substantial capital each year in order to
provide the necessary programs and resources.
