 Pre – High School Equivalency

As a result of the increase in individuals accessing the services of the Muskoka Literacy Council following our collocation with the Employment Resource Centre and our other Employment Ontario partners in August 2008, it became apparent there was a segment of the population whose needs were not being met by current programs offered in Huntsville.

Additional funding received from the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities in September 2009, enabled us to create new programming to address the needs of those individuals interested in fast-tracking their upgrading to ready themselves for both the GED and ACE programs .

The general the purpose of this new program is to ensure that students receive the necessary skills in a collaborative group situation to become successful in attaining Grade 12 equivalency to access employment opportunities, the GED program or the ACE program also offered at the Muskoka Literacy Council in partnership with Georgian College.

The Instructor is responsible for creating and facilitating small group workshops in Communications (Reading/ Writing/Spelling), Math and Computers for students attending the Muskoka Literacy Council but whose skill level is at the higher end of the current LBS mandate.

Classes are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the day with evening classes offered on Tuesday and Wednesdays. Employment related workshops are offered on a rotating basis each month.

Please contact Eileen Lee, Program Coordinator, for further information.
