ACADEMIC UPGRADING FOR COLLEGE ENTRY (ACE)

The ACE program is paving the road to higher education for those who live in the Muskoka region. Academic Upgrading for College Entry (ACE) is a program that is recognized by all Ontario college and apprenticeship programs as a high school equivalency.

As of January 15, 2007, the ACE Communications and Core Mathematics components have been offered by Georgian College on Monday and Tuesday evenings at the Muskoka Literacy Council.  The other components, Computer and Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), were delivered at Georgian College in Bracebridge, our partner in this initiative.  Students had the opportunity to choose four of five available courses in order to receive a certificate of achievement.

Since 2008, in addition to the Monday and Tuesday evening classes at the Muskoka Literacy Council, an additional ACE Mathematics class was offered on Friday mornings along with the addition of  a Chemistry class which was offered on Wednesday evenings.

Since 2010, the fall lineup changed to accommodate Biology. The ACE courses in Huntsville now run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday evenings and Friday mornings.
