A computer savvy senior! Thank you Terry for your kind words.

Hon. Tony Clement MP

Parry Sound-Muskoka

Dear Sir

I’m writing today to congratulate and thank you for the wonderful stimulating educational computer program you have helped to installed at the Muskoka Literacy Council. I signed up for that course and over the following months, I was taught by the volunteer teacher Steve Taunton, along with the other students, computer skills that I never had before.

Many years ago I retired from the workforce when the computer was beginning to be used in my industry and therefore I never acquired those skills. As a senior citizen I found on a number of occasions I needed the computer skills to correspond with Government Agencies, my accountant, various businesses, family and friends not only in Canada but around the world. My newly acquired computer skills have made this task not only easier for me, but also more enjoyable as I no longer have to spend a great deal of time writing longhand and suffering from the arthritis in my fingers.

Over the period that I attended the Muskoka Literacy Council, I was very impressed with the staff in charge of this facility. From the first moment you walk through the door you are pleasantly greeted and made to feel welcome by the congenial, helpful, and pleasant Administrative Assistant Wanda Sawyer. From my many years in business I know how important that is. It’s the very first person you meet representing the Corporation-Industry. And appointing Wanda Sawyer for this position is an excellent choice.

Pat Peat Program Coordinator is very helpful, charming and efficient and makes you feel welcome and is always there for the students to answer their questions and inquiries in a most professional way.

The volunteer computer teacher Steve Taunton, who I found to be very helpful, patient and tolerant and very eager to pass on his expertise in a most genuine and very enjoyable way. I’m absolutely thrilled with what he has taught me. It’s defiantly enriched my life and I’m very grateful for that. Steve Taunton drives to the M. L. C. from quite a distance away (Kearney) at his own expense and also picks up other students along the way that couldn’t get there otherwise. He readily fixes the computers when they malfunction at the MLC or at his own workshop at home. I’m totally overwhelmed by his generosity compassion and kindness, it’s so sensitive and strong and once again I find my life is being enriched.

At the helm of this facility is the president Sue Lowe. A remarkable leader that controls and supervises the MLC. flawlessly to run like a well oiled and maintained piece of fine machinery.  All the staff and volunteers under her command that I had the pleasure to meet or work with were pleasant congenial and helpful. I’m sure that goes for the staff that I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting or working with. The premises are kept remarkably clean, light and airy, and a wonderful environment to study in.

Once again I thank you and the MLC for this wonderful facility and remarkable staff that has not only taught me to use the computer but has enriched my life all round.

 Yours Sincerely

 Terence W Puplett
